Captain Mokh, short for Captain (Rtd) Mokhtar Mohamad, is no ordinary man. He is currently the resident naturalist at Tanjong Jara Resort, Terengganu, Malaysia. During the tail end of the Communist Insurgency in Malaysia, he spent 3 years in the jungles of Taman Negara as part of a covert military mission and lived with the indigenous Batek Negritos people.

He attributed his knowledge in nature to these people who are themselves nomadic hunter gatherers, with a vast comprehension of nature and the surrounding jungle. The years he spent with them only cemented his love for nature.

In 2017, he was one of five winners of the BTRT Awards. He stood out because he puts his guests first, and inspires young people to love nature.
